My whole life I was led to believe that the Crusades were evil because they were evil. When I got to college, I learned a few good things about the Crusades, like:

1. The introduction of Eastern trade, thought, and technology into the West (let’s here it for the zero!).

2. The origins of modern diplomacy.

3. The staving off of the Muslim advance into the West, which was . . .

4. The glue that held Western Civilization together from the 11th century through Lepanto.

What’s so bad about that?
